Don't wanna end up here{Cass/Any

[BENJAMIN MONROE JENNINGS]

After a few days healing in St.Mungos... It came to be the day that Benji was allowed to be released. But sadly for him, he wasn't to be released to Hogwarts or back home... Oh No, he was going to be sent to Azkaban. He hated this very idea of it. He was only trying to protect the ones he had loved more than life itself. Was that such a crime. Apparently it was.

He was trying to be brave as the time ticked by so fast. he had five minutes before the ministry would come and take him away. but inside he was breaking down. Sure normally he believed in justice... but he didn't believe that he belonged there. He was already bound, magically. Normally one would be bound by silver handcuffs, but since silver was toxic to him, they had to use magical chains.

He was standing up by the window, looking out. one more glance of the free world before he would be stuck.A tear fell from one of his eyes. He felt like he was letting everyone down.but if he ran from this, he could be in worse trouble.

Cass didn't even want to think about what was going on. She didn't want to hear this, she could not hear this. It was too hard to think about Benji being taken away from her, and because he had been protecting her and himself. Her anxiety was really severe in reaction to that. Still she figured that they both were trying to be as strong as possible. She didn't want him in here, sick with worry about the outside so she was holding up a good front.

They were coming soon though, she knew that. She slipped quietly back into his hospital soom. She wanted to make sure that he was at least comforted a little before he left. She walked over to him, stopping by his side as one of her hands slid into his shoulder. She squeezed it and then she saw the tear and wiped it away.

"Don't cry sweetheart, Its.. everything is going to be ok." She felt like she was going to cry too. Her hands went to the chains on him. They were magical, she didn't know how to undo them but they made her feel sick to her stomach. She wished that the guys were here but she couldn't blame them if they werent. This was going to be tough.

Benji looked at Cass sadly. He would miss her the most when he was stuck in Azkaban. It had comforted him a little that she squeezed his arm. "hopefully things will be alright. But... i hate this. " He sighed gently. he blinked back all the rest of the tears in an attempt to be strong. "it's not fair" he said bitterly. His ears perked when he heard footsteps coming nearer to the room.

A few moments later, the minister and a few guards from Azkaban came into the room. He frowned and whispered to Cass, "i will always love you" He was reluctantly allowing them to drag him off. He hoped that he could see her again soon. and he didn't mean from a jail cell.

Cass moved her hand and gently rubbed his back a little. Her other hand stayed on his cheek, ready to wipe away any tears that fell. This was so hard. She could only guess this was close to how he had felt when she was dying. It was the idea of being seperated for God only knew how long. Still she was determined not to think of that way. He wasn't dying and he would be out soon. "Yes it does suck." And soon enough they were there.

She stared at him in horror in a way when he said that, it sounded way too much like a goodbye to her. She was frozen for a moment as they started to drag him off. Then the word burst past her lips. "No!" She ran and wrapped her arms around Benji's neck, pleading to the minister and the guard. "Please don't do this! Please!"

They were halfway out the door of the room when Cass had attempted to stop the guards from taking Benji. He was glad that she tried to stop them from taking him.He wanted to hug her and tell her that he would be alright. But then again... it would possibly be a lie. He didn't want to go. he wanted to stay in her arms.

"Sorry Miss... but you must let us do our job. Young Mr. Jennings here had killed a person. Therefore he must pay the price. But of course there will be a trial. But it is really just a formality. He has to stay there until the trial... and possibly beyond." Had spoken the Minister in a succinct tone. The guards were trying to remove Cass's grip from Benji.

Benji's head was down in a sorrowful look. who knew when this trial was going to be. and his only hope of ever getting out was to be able to convince him that it was self defense.

Cass tried desperately to hold on to Benji, in fact she just refused to let go of him. She couldn't let this happen to him, she just could not. She was upset and desperate and she knew she was making a scene but all she could do was try to explain. She wanted him to be safe, and secure and he was neither there. Azkaban was a terrible place. So she held tighter to him.

"No, it was self defense, can't you see that it's self defence? He's not dangerous at all. Flint threatened us, and tried to kill him. It was all an accident and if it was anyone's fault it was Flint's. Please, stop this!" She vaguely recognized the minister and she remembered talk about him from her family in the ministry. "I know what you are afraid of, you can't possibly be fair." She spat out the words.

She was afraid that they would eventually pry her away from him, and when that happened she was in trouble.

Benji had nodded and said, "yeah Minister... it was self defense and protection for the woman i love and our unborne babe. if any killing is justified i would say this would definitely be one of those times. Normally i would never kill... you can hook me up to one of those lie detector things or give me vertiaserum...then you would know that i am no murderous savage. " He took a deep breath and said, "just because i am a werewolf doesn't mean anything. I am just a normal person who wants to protect those i see as my family. You would do the same if you were in my position."

The minister was listening to this commotion. He wasn't surprised about how Cass was defending Benji. he could sense there was something going on between them. But It wasn't until Benji said the thing about the thing about defending Cass and their unborn babe, did he see it for what it was. "and what my dear do you think i am afraid of... and why would it be preventing me from being fair? If it is truly self defense... then what would be the problem of us keeping him in custody until we can procure some Vertiaserum? "

Cass nodded in agreement with what Benji told the minister. It was true after all, they could all be dead right now. That was a balance of one life verses three abouts. She nodded again, pointedly, as everything he was saying was true. Benji was protecting her and the baby and himself, that was the important part. Protecting and not aggressing and that was major. How was she supposed to say this? How was she supposed to make this work? He was asking her questions now.

She almost wished he hadn't brought up the baby in a way, almost as if it took away some of her credability. She looked at the minister, half desperate in her plea now. "Because Azkaban is no place for an innocent man for any ammount of time. How do I know he'll be safe? I know what guards that prison, we all do, and they are far from trustworthy. How long could it possibly take to find some Veritaserum? I'm telling you that this was an accident and self defence, and I'm the only witness."

[BENJAMIN MONROE JENNINGS]

Benji placed his head on her shoulder and whispered in her ear, They won't hold me for long. even if i have to break free to get to you... i will get back to you" He nodded as he listened to the minister. The minister had said,"we had gotten rid of the dementors. and we could place him in a silverless cell that is safe. it would be just a holding cell. and it takes a while to make a fresh batch because they like to use it unnecessarily. "

Cass calmed a little and listened to Benji. Sh eknew that she was going to hav to let him go now. If the minister said he would be safe she was going to have to trust that. It seemed that she had his word and that was going to have to do. At least the cell would be safe right, and it was just a holding cell. Still it made her nervous. 'I love you," she whispered to Benji. So Cass gently let go of Benji and did her best not to cry anymore, though her lips were undoubtably trembling. She watched, standing back now.

Benji gave Cass a soft look before telling her that he loves her. Then he looked down as the minister and guards went back to dragging him off again. The only thing that was going through his mind is how to escape to get back to her. He totally forgot that the full moon was coming in about a week. He trudged along to the floo network connected fire place. And soon he was off and in the cell.

Casscould feel her heart breaking as she stood there, watching them take him away. She almost wanted to get in the way again, but there was nothing that she could do. She wished that the guys were here, maybe they coud stop this, maybe they had more proof. All she had was her word and evidently that was not good enough. As soon as he was out of sight she sat down on the floor of the room and leaned her back against the wall. Then she did the only thing that she could do. She cried, she cried and she didn't stop, sobbing as helplessly as she felt.

Benji was pacing the Cell. his hands and legs were finally unshackled. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Jamie and Jerad were running to the room that Benji had been in previously. Jerad frowned when he and Jay came into the room to only see Cass sobbing. No Benji in sight. "shit we were too late" Jerad said to Jay darkly. Jay meanwhile had gone over to Cass. "sorry that we were late Cass... we got held up. So what's the deal with Benji?" He and Jerad sat down next to her. they both attempted to pull her into a group hug.

Cass silently knew that she didn't trust a word out of that man's mouth. That was just the fact of the matter. She knew his kind, he seemed to be like her family and God only knew what scum they really were. She hated them, she hated them a lot. And now she felt hopeless and just plain out of luck again. She drew her knees near to her chest but rested her forehead on them so that her face could not be seen. The only proof of her tears were the slightly gasping sob noises. She heard the question that Jay posed to her but she didn't raise her head from her knees. At this point she just couldn't. The hug just made her cry harder.

Jerad backed away from her and said, "we need to get Benji out of there. for his sake and all of ours. I heard tales of what can happen to people in that place. perhaps we can get a campaign started to get him out... like get more voices on our side? The minister can't ignore the voices of many influential people can he?" He looked determined. Jay didn't say anything because for once he didn't have anything to add yet. Jerad had spoken his thoughts as well. If the minister wouldn't pay attention to the truth as told by Cass and Benji... they needed more powerful people in their arsenal.
