Scorpius had awoke late that morning, in his and K’s bedroom. Kara had said that she had to go somewhere that day, and he hadn’t questioned her. He didn’t want to make her angry, or stress her at all, so lately, he had just been following what she had said, and giving his opinion where it was needed. Scorp was worried about her, and that was also another reason that he was keeping his eye on her without causing any problems. He hated when she got mad at him, which had been happening more and more later, because her temper was now so very short. He hopped out of bed and got ready for the day, slightly anticipating when Cassie would come over.
She had sent an owl to Hogwarts asking if she could come to the Johnson Estate and talk to him, and he had said that that was fine in a reply owl. After all, the Winter Break had started, and so he was home for nearly a month, because he couldn’t bear to spend the whole thing at Hogwarts. Scorp thought of the Winter Break as a way to spend time with Kara without so much drama, and that was something he seriously needed. Plus, when he went back for the ending half of the year, Kara wouldn’t be going back with him. He’d be without her for the rest of the year, except when he was able to sneak out of Hogwarts and visit her. He knew he’d be doing that frequently, but still, that wasn’t enough for him. At least they’d be sort-of seventh years together, he looked on the Brightside. Or, at least, tried to.
Scorpius ran a hand through his hair and jogged downstairs to the kitchen, fixing himself something quick for breakfast, and eating it almost as quickly. He went into the living room and sat himself down on the couch, book in hand. He got bored very easily, and he might as well read while he waited for Cass to get here. He knew she was supposed to get to the Estate around twelve. It was only fifteen minutes to noon, and so he knew he’d be hearing the doorbell ring quite soon.

It was Cass’s first day off in a while. Usually she used time like this to work odd jobs to make extra money but she figured she had to go see Scorpius sooner or later. She had to tell him what was going on. So she had sent that reluctant letter and she had set out on her way to meet with him. She was not sure if she even really wanted to, in fact this felt like something he was going to yell at her for. Well still she was older than him, he could not yell at her for this. She thought she was doing the right thing.
Of course she was aware that it could end badly, that Benji could leave her but she doubted it. He had stood by her so far, especially when she was so sick, and she had been there when he was in jail. It was all very stressful but they had made it through. She was glad of that and she felt like they were all the stronger because of it. And now it was almost Christmas, which would be nice to have together. She remembered Christmas at the black mansion, it was really anything but festive to be perfectly honest. It was dull and drab and anything but Christmas-ish. Hence her knowledge of the holiday was limited and she was very excited for this year.
Still she had to break the news to her cousin, as he was sort of the last family she had left that was related to her by blood. She was up early, ready for what was going to come, or at least as ready as she was ever going to be. Well she was sure he would understand it all. They had both been through a lot of hard stuff recently. So she arrived at the home that he shared with his wife fairly early given how tired she was. She knocked on the door once she got there and heard running footsteps. ”Hello Scorpius.”

Scorp hadn't been waiting long when he heard Cass knocking at the door. He had no idea what to expect when he would open the door, as he hadn't really spoken to Cass in a while. They had been dealing with their own shares of family problems, and hadn't found time to speak to each other, which was natural, with their situations. Sure, he felt bad, but he was hoping that things would settle down a little so that everything could at least be a little bit more normal. At the moment, it seemed like everything was being thrown at them in rapid gunshots, and they were just avoiding getting hit. Scorpius knew that he was getting tired of everything that had been going on in his life, especially with his former-father worming his way back into his life, and trying to earn himself a permanent spot.
He jogged over to the door and pulled it open. "Cassie." Scorpius said with a smile, as he gestured for her to come in. He shut the door behind her once she walked in. "How are you? ...Your owl was sudden, so I was hoping nothing was wrong..." Scorp trailed off. He had no idea why she had wanted to come over. So, after all, he would be slightly hesitant when saying anything. He didn't want to offend her in anyway, though he doubted he could. This was Cassie, after all. She was the only blood family he had left...or, well, wanted to have left. He gestured for her to sit and sat on the chair across from her, waiting for her to start talking.
