The Start of Rumors? (Kara!)

Scorpius was sort-of tired. The day had been exhausting, just as it always was. He was sick and tired of walking around, day after day, pretending that he didn’t care about the rumors and the whispers and the stares…it wasn’t that he cared what they were talking about. It was just the fact that they were still talking about him. He heard gossip about Kara, Lucian, and Lily all mixed in, and just felt like yelling at all of them to shut up. Of course, that probably would’ve caused them to talk much more, so he left them alone, and let them stare at him as if he was some sort of rare animal in the zoo that was there for only a day. He walked down to the fifth floor, making his way down after a day of classes.

Oh, how he hated divination. Lily had always boasted at how good she was in the subject, but he had never believed in all that dream-like vision crap. He thought that all of it was just smoke and mirrors, as the muggles said, and didn’t think that it should be taught at Hogwarts as an actual class. Of course, almost no one agreed with him when he said that. They thought that it was an easy grade, one that would just make them look better when they graduated. Of course, he had never been the sharpest tool in the shed, and had never got the greatest of grades. His father had always pushed him more into the social scene, making sure that he had always known the right people, instead of focusing on his schoolwork.

He shook his head, throwing the thoughts away of his old family. His family were Kara, Alex, Selena, and their family now. He knew that he shouldn’t still count the Malfoys, but he couldn’t help but sort-of hold on to Astoria, to Draco, to Lucius, and to Narcissa, no matter what they did wrong or how much they tried to control him. He couldn’t just forget about those one or two good moments that he had had with them. There had been so few that he held on to them with whatever he had left inside of him. He got to the third floor, and rolled his eyes as he got pointed at. Ugh, he thought to himself. Would it ever end?

God Kara just wished that all the rumors would stop, that everything would just go back to how it was before Scorp and Kara became the center of attention. She was cold to everyone she had seen today and they weren't really scared of her, that was until she had put her wand up against some kids throat with an audience watching, then they knew that the old Kara Johnson was back. She was sure that she'd hear all about it in a little while when the gossip circulated.

Why she had come to finish out the last two weeks of school, honestly she did not know. All she knew was that she was very tired and very cranky. No one was going to push her buttons today. Having to set through her potions class, away from the chemicals, she observed. It was amazingly boring, something that she actually once liked, was now a complete waste of time. Although she still got her top of the class grades, being a smart Slytherin.

She now had such a big family, Alex and Bianca, Jamie and Selena, Cass and the lost boys. Well of course Scorpius was included, because he was her husband, but her family kept growing, and she had always had such a small family. Sitting on the window seal of the third floor she just thought about all of it, yet she wasn't happy that she had a support system now. she just wished sometimes that things would go back to the way they had been when it was just Alex, B, and herself. They had been so close and always sharing things, making jokes. Kara did like having her little sister Selena back into her life. She waited for Scorp, and also out of peoples way as she just sat looking as people pay her no attention, just going about their business.

Scorpius had never had a large family. He was so used to Astoria, Draco, and himself. Kara, though, had a large/growing family. Cass, Jamie, Benji, and the rest of their guys counted, as well as Alex and Selena. He had never been used to so many people being around him. He had always had his lackeys, the ones that followed him around because he was the big, powerful, and rich Scorpius Malfoy, but they had disappeared with the name, as did Draco and Astoria. Lucius and Narcissa had never really been a part of his life; they had always conversed with Astoria and Draco about him, but that was about it. He didn’t really see them, except for those few rare times on a random holiday or when his grandfather came over for some business between he and his father, but that was it. He was more raised than house elves than actual people, so he couldn’t claim a big family.

Scorpius met up with Kara at a window sill on the floor he was still on, the third, and immediately frowned. He was seriously angry with her, but he wouldn’t say anything too crazy. He didn’t want to jeopardize their relationship. There was always the fact that K could leave him and take the baby with her at the back of his mind, and he was terrified of that happening. He knew that that scenario was totally irrational, but things were changing so much, and he just didn’t know where most things stood anymore. He had heard that Kara had been with Lucian in a bloody room together, and she hadn’t spoken anything of Lucian at all lately, so now, what was he left to think? He was left looking stupid, thinking that she was cheating on him. He felt betrayed and hurt, but angry as well. “K…I have to ask you something.” He said. “I heard you got a room with Luc in Knockturn Alley. True, or not?” Scorpius asked, trying to keep down his temper. It wouldn’t make the situation any better if he blew up at her. It actually would make it just that much worse.

Kara was happy now that she had a large family, she used to really only have her brother and Bianca. Her sister used to not be in the picture, but that was when she had a reputation. It was something that she gave up, because she was a seventh year and would be leaving the school, well that was before she and Scorp had conceved twins and gotten married. Why they needed to get married so young, she supposed it was a spur of the moment decision. They both were of legal age though, so nothing really stopped them. At least the law couldn't, she thought about everything that had happened in the last few weeks, and was scared to let anyone know what had really happened.

It was scarry to be on the side dishing gossip about herself to the public, only to cover up the real truth. Kara knew it was only a matter of time before her husband found out about the nasty rumor. She had gotten dirty looks all day at school, and that was why she had been sitting in the window-seal. Scorp had finally saw her as he had been on the third floor, she actually had been waiting for him, for a chance to explain. "Darling, please don't get a temper, lets talk some where quieter... the walls have ears you know" she didn't want gossip spread around, more than it already was at least.

She knew that he wouldn't like her answer, and to have put herself in harms way like that, she was going to be punished but she was protecting her close friends, which he would have too in her position. Hell Alex would be even more pissed than Scorpius and she was scared that Alex would off Lucian. So she hadn't even bothered to go near him, she at the moment couldn't decide who was worse, Scorpius or Alex? It really was a toss up. To answer his question, she nodded, "but it's not what you think... please just hear me out, please?" she looked like she honestly was about to cry.

Scorpius found himself getting a little madder at the fact that she was trying to get out of public to discuss it. Scorpius wasn’t having it, though. He wanted to talk about it, right here, right now. Why had he had to find it out from some random girls in Gryffindor house, of all houses? He had heard them giggling and saying Kara’s name, and he had went over to them, going to tell them to knock it off, because that was his wife, but he had paused when he had heard what they were saying. They had said that Kara had been spotted in Knockturn Alley with Lucian, and that they had gone up to a room in a pub and left, one after the other. It was speculated that they had had relations, therefore, Kara cheated on him. He had reeled back, and had went to spend some time in the forest, not really up to being around people.

When he had come back, though, he was fuming, and had resolved to find Kara and let her explain. When he had found her, though, he couldn’t find it in himself to be rational. “No, we’ll stay right here, and you’ll tell me what’s going on. I think I have the right to demand an explanation after I find out that you’re cheating on me, while you’re pregnant with my child…or is it even mine?” He asked, his voice turning a little cold. He had no idea where that had come from, but it was probably just a reaction to the betrayal. He had thought that the one person he could depend on not to do something to betray him would’ve been Kara, but it seemed that he had been wrong. He waited for her answer, trying to ignore the fact that she looked like she was about to cry.

Ever since that night, Kara had been on a short fuse, if a word was even mentioned about her and Lucian she'd snap. She was going to cause a huge scene in front of a lot of people. "Fine! you want to know what is going on? i was helping Lily out, and no i did not sleep with Lucian Avery, just so everyone knows... i'm the one who started that damn bloody rumor" Kara had snapped like a twig. She didn't want to fight with him in public, but he gave her no choice.

"well, lets see, i had been at a pub, about to leave when Luc showed up and started talking to me, being such good friends, we decided to talk more privately.... We started to argue, about what he had done to Lily and i was going to get my payback for him hurting her, his constant changing of women, breaking all their hearts? It's all because of me, you can't see that some part of him is still in love with me? He's just provoking me, taunting me and Lily is my friend. He can't just do that and walk away like it's nothing" She was yelling, she couldn't help but yell. Everyone had stopped what they had been doing to listen to this. Scorpius and Kara fighting really was a miracle, they hardly ever fought.

"So i threw some hexes at him, i had a drink, he had a few and he kissed me, so i threw a few more spells at him, something worse than hexes. I shoved him off of me and tried to leave, but he got ahold of me and sliced me up and down. My arms, legs, my face... and i couldn't hardly move, but when i did... i punched him so hard, he had to have gotten a black eye, and i'm pretty sure i heard a crunch so i'm going to guess he has a broken nose as well... you want proof?" she took off her jacket, and hood. Showing everyone what she had looked like, she knew that their was a spell to make sure you couldn't use magic to heal your wounds. They had both cast it at each other. "and yes, it's your child, why would listen to the rumors, and not believe me is beyond me, but i can't..." she couldn't even finish her sentance, she quickly ran down the stairs, she knew that her blood pressure was high, she could feel it, but there was nothing she could do about it now. When she reached the bottom of the stairs, she dropped to the floor. Apparently she would need to go back to the hospital, because she hadn't gotten enough blood back in her system, and her blood pressure being as high as it was could result in her death.

Scorpius listened to her whole rant, as it continued, he started to feel guiltier, and guiltier. All she had done was pull him aside, and try to help Lily. He had let other people get into his head, and mess everything up. He didn’t dare stop her, though. He knew that her temper was like a fire-cracker, and to get in the middle of what she was saying was just asking for even more trouble, something that he didn’t feel like getting into. He wanted to tell her how sorry he was, and how he hadn’t meant to jump to convulsions, but he couldn’t bring himself to try and get the words out. He had been stupid, and he had been judgmental, something that he had always prided himself on not being. Scorp knew he had been stupid, and he wanted to make up for it.

When she had showed him the cuts, he had felt anger rise up within him, and he wanted to kill Lucian. He would find him, and strangle him with his bare bloody hands. That was what he wanted to do. He knew he couldn’t, though. Beat some sense into him, maybe, but he couldn’t take out his anger on Lucian, or, by the time he was done with him, Lucian would be dead. Scorpius was sure of it. His overprotective nature over Kara could definitely drive him to great lengths, and beating someone else up for hurting her was definitely one of those lengths. And while she was pregnant with his child as well? Lucian was asking for trouble.

When she had taken off into a run, Scorpius felt dread build up in his stomach. Being this angry couldn’t be good for her. After yelling at the crowd, telling them to fuck off, he ran after her, finding her collapsed at the bottom of the staircase. He ran down them, taking them two at a time, and kneeling down beside her. Swearing under his breath, he held onto one her hands, shaking her slightly, trying to wake her up somehow. He was scared of moving her, because he didn’t want to make anything worse, and so he settled for calling her name and waiting for some sort-of response from his wife, their fight mere minutes ago already forgotten.

Waking up to the sound of movement and scurrying, with everything blurred around you wasn't exactly the greatest thing in th world. Kara knew that she probably fell or something, the last thing she remembered was the fight between her and Scorpius. He wouldn't let them go into another room, he had to have answers right that second and she really didn't want to give them to him. Her temper was short these days and she was easily snapped.

She bet that he regreted what he had done, but her Johnson blood and his Malfoy blood, it all made it just so difficult. When provoked, they'll bite and it'll be hard. Kara grunted, opening her eyes again. She sighed softly and closed them, the light was hurting her eyes and the noise was going to be to much for her. She figured that she'd just lay here for awhile someone would eventually find her. She figured that Scorp would now want to kill Lucian and when Bianca told Alex he'd want to kill Luc as well.

The next moment someone had been shaking her.... hand? and calling her name, she opened her mouth to speak but couldn't manage to get any sound out. So she settled for a whisper. "Scorp? please get me out of here" She wanted so badly to just get out of this damn place and back home, obviously that wasn't an option at the moment, because he'd probably drag her to the hospital. Where she'd been spending oh so much time lately.

Even before she had been pregnant, Kara had always had a short temper. She had never been one to deal with any kind of bull, except for Lily, for about five years, and even that had run out. She wasn’t a very patient person, from what Scorpius had always known of her, but then again, she wasn’t him. He could deal with things like that and just stay in the same position and hold it in for long periods of time. That was basically what he had done from birth until a few months ago, with his family, but even he had a temper, and lately, it had been getting a little shorter as well. And the two of them together, arguing, could never paint a pretty picture.

He did regret what he had done. Scorpius hated getting angry, especially when it came to people close to him, and even more exclusively: Kara. He tried as much as he could to hold back any bad feelings towards her, but when he had heard that she had supposedly ‘cheated’ on him, all rational thought had flown straight out the window. He really hadn’t meant for it to happen that way, but when mixing Johnson and Malfoy Blood, it was an unpredictable explosion of emotions on both parts, normally mixing in biting insults and threats. Both of them knew that their arguments were inevitable, though. They just, sometimes, happened at the most inconvenient times.

Scorpius heard what she said, and threw all thoughts of ‘moving her could do damage’ out the window. Not moving her could do even more damage. He was between the devil and the deep blue sea. He gently lifted her, and started to carry her towards the Hospital Wing. He would find Lucian later, he was sure of that. He knew that once Alex found out, he’d be looking for Luc’s blood as well, but he couldn’t be bothered with that. Scorpius held back a sigh. “I…we’re almost there, K. And we’re not going back to the dorms, either. I’m taking you to the Hospital Wing. And you’re not talking me out of it, either.” As much as he and Kara hated hospitals, he knew that it was better to take her to the all-white-walled wing than not to, take her back to the dorms, and then have something worse happen.
