A Prison Visit{Cass

[BENJAMIN MONROE JENNINGS]

Benji had been in Azkaban for a few days. He was starting to look ragged. The full moon was in a fortnight so he wasn't looking too well. His face was unshaven so it looked like old times. His hair was bushier than it was before he left, but only slightly. He was curled up in the corner of his cell. Benji's eyes were closed, but he wasn't asleep. Oh no. He couldn't sleep well. He just had it closed so he could focus on memories and of people that he cared about. Cass and the unborn baby kept popping in his brain more than anyone. and some how it kept him sane. But he was still missing them with every fiber of his being.

It had aken Cass a few days to make it to Azkaban, mainly because she was trying just to keep everything in order. She wanted to go sooner but there was also work to be done on the defense. She was the only witness who didn't strike a blow. In fac she had nearly cowered in the corner, half curled up in fear. She had been caught between trying to protect the thing that was too small to see or feel inside of her and protecting Benji. She wondered if she had chosen wrong. She was led to his cell when she arrive, seeing him curled up there. She gently tapped her fingers on the bars to get his attention. "Benji?"

Benji had heard Cass's voice. At first he thought he was just dreaming, but he still looked. Upon noting that it was her there, he smiled gently and went over to the Bars to talk to her. "Cass... i am so glad to see you." He said in a soft, calm voice. Her presence brightened his mood considerably. "i missed you" he said honestly. He really missed her. He just wanted to be able to pull her into a hug or something, but he couldn't. Not until he got out of there... if he got out of there. But he rather say when and not if. "how are you?"

Cass smiled when he looked up. She hated to see him like this, he looked completely ragged. That broke her heart a little. She just wanted to bring him home and clean him up and make sure he was all safe and tucked away. She could do some things though. She reached through the bars and rubbed his arm a little. "And I can't tell you how much I've missed you." She reached into her purse then. "I brought you something." She took out two chocolate bars and slipped them through the iron to him. Cass had to think for a moment. "I'm getting by, I just try to keep busy and miss you. How are you dooing sweet heart?"

Benji smiled gently at her rubbing his arm. He missed any and all comforting gestures from her. since he couldn't stick his head through the bars, since the space was too small, he just kissed her hand. It was to show that he can still be somewhat playful, even in this horrible place. When Cass slipped the chocolate to him, Benji looked grateful to her. he hadn't had chocolate in a few days. He said, "thanks" Quietly.

Benji slipped the chocolate under the pillow to hide it for later. then he went back to her. "i guess i am as ok as one could expect. bored as hell in here... missing everyone that i care about.Missing you...immensely. i can only keep myself calm every night just thinking about you and how much i wish i was not here right now. " he sighed deeply.

Cass knew that Benji deserved each and every ounce of comfort that she could provided him. He was so in need of it, or so it seemed to her. She reached out with her other hand through the bars and touched his cheek. Then her hand moved and rubbed his ear a little between her fingers. She smiled sadly at him, but she was so glad he was alive still and looking like he was ok. She knew what woudl help.

"Well you have your chocolate now at least. I might have some of our schoolbooks in my bag, I'll give those to you if you want so you don't fall behind." Her voice went up a little in pitch as her mind reached into hope and desperation. "You shouldn't fall behind because you'll be out soon. Also you should be a little glad that you aren't around me. All I've been doing is throwing up and crying, I think I'm just about driving the guys crazy."

Benji leaned against the bars, not caring that he would get lines on his face. He just wanted to be close to where she was. He didn't think it was fair though. Whenever Kara was visiting, she was allowed in the cell. but Cass wasn't. He just wanted to be able to pull her into a hug, or be pulled into one himself. He tried to smile as he said, "I love you" in a honest tone. that thought was the only thing that kept him sane.

"perhaps if i can get out soon enough,i could use winter break to catch up or something..." said Benji trying to sound optimistic.He needed to look forward to freedom. He gave her a look and said, "you haven't been driving them crazy. i had a few visits from them. and apparently Kara has been driving Jay insane." He chuckled lightly. "you know me... i would love any moment around you.Being in here made me appreciate all the moments that i had with you even more."

Cass slipped her arms through the bars to awkwardly hold him as much as possible. It was hard not seeing him every day, not being allowed to be close to him. In all honesty that absolutely killed her. It made her absolutely miserable. She was ready to admit that to him too. "I love you, I really do. This is worse than when I nearly died, did die, because at least then I had you near me." She took out the books and passed those through the bars. "Well here, at least it is something for you to do."

Cass nodded, it made sense that Kara might be like that, but she was also being really nice to Cass through all of this. Still Cass was having an eaither time physically than Kara, save the minor depression she had slipped into. Then the guard came over and cass pulled away from the bars. As soon as he opened it she darted inside and her arms wrapped around him.

Benji nodded and muttered, "not having you around is definitely worse than any other punishment that they can give me here.It's even worse than how i felt with the dagger..." He shuddered lightly. He was thinking back on that pain... and in a way it was just a tickle compared to the pain of not being around those he loved the most. "this is worse than how i felt when you were sick and dying, because at least then i was close to you. me being in here... is just plain horrible."

Benji had slipped the books under his arm so he could take it over to the bed. When the guard pulled Cass away from the bars, he was going to protest... at least that was until he saw the door open. It was like a slow motion moment for him when she came over to hug him. It was what he wanted... to be held in her arms again. So he dropped the books... and gave Cass the biggest happiest hug he could manage.
