your love's a drug... Lily loved these galas, sometimes. Her father got invited to them, and whenever he went, she normally went along with him. The pureblood children were shone off like trophies and she just went to be recognized. Her father was Harry Potter, and Harry Potter would never show off his children. So what did she do? She did it for him. She didn’t do anything wrong, she just introduced herself to everyone, had a few cocktails, and kept a smile on her face. It wasn’t that hard, after all, it was something she had been doing since she was young. The only reason she was truly let into these galas was because she was a Potter and because she was dating an Avery. She also used to have a Malfoy on her side, but he wasn’t a Malfoy anymore, and so he couldn’t help her, much. She still kept him close, though, if only on the off-chance that he became a Malfoy once again. It wasn’t too rare for a disowning to be reversed, and so she held the possibility close to her heart, because she knew that having a Malfoy as a friend was such a very good thing.
It was ending, and though she didn’t want to go, her parents were leaving, and so she smiled and said goodbye to everyone, shaking hands and giving the regular kiss-on-the-cheek to those she held ‘close’. Her yellow-green dress was long and flowing, and she looked good in it. She had on a black headband, one that signaled her royalty at Hogwarts, and matched her dress. She had gotten compliments all throughout the night, and she got one last one right before she left. She loved when people noticed how she looked, because she always made the best of her efforts to look good. She smiled and thanked the person, and then was pulled away by her father. They apparated to the outskirts of the grounds of Hogwarts, and she smiled and gave her father and mother both a hug, and started to walk. Her heels were hurting her feet, true, but she wouldn’t take them off, on any chance that anyone would see her walking bare-footed on the grounds. That wasn’t at all classy, Queen-like behavior, and she wouldn’t do it.
She heard the pop behind her, and knew that her parents had gone back to their home, and she snorted and rolled her eyes. She knew that her mother would be back at Hogwarts in the morning, as she was a professor and head of Gryffindor, and she thought that it was just too ironic. They thought that their daughter was cute and innocent, and they didn’t know that she was Queen B. They didn’t know about her enemies, her minions, Kara, Chuck…they didn’t know about any of it. She didn’t know why her brothers hadn’t said anything to Harry or Ginny, but she found it that they were probably scared that it couldn’t be proved. They trusted James and Albus much less than they did Lily. She was the youngest, the baby girl of the family…why did they have any reason not to trust her? They didn’t, and that’s what she used to her advantage. It was so easy, and she loved it. If she had been the oldest, or maybe the middle…if there had been another girl, then she wouldn’t have been believed for a second. She loved being the youngest.
She trekked up the long dirt road and through the gates and up to the Great Hall doors. She knew that the rest of the Hogwarts students that had been there would be coming back soon, or had already come back, and she knew that their coming back late would be overlooked. It always was, when there was something like this. All you had to do was be quiet when sneaking back in and there wouldn’t be a problem. Her heels, though, were loud, but she didn’t step softly. She did whatever she wanted because she was Lily Potter. End of story. Walking down the steps of the dungeons and into the dungeon hallway, she shivered slightly. The dress had a one-sided sleeve, but it was only a bow on the left shoulder, and nothing going down her arms. She whispered the password to get into the common room, and sighed when the wall opened up to admit her in. There were a few embers burning in the fireplace and she felt the warmth wash over her. She wasn’t too tired, but didn’t want to walk all the way to the fifth year girls dorms. She didn’t feel like going to find her wand, either, something she normally kept on her person, because it was sitting in her nightstand drawer. She rolled her eyes at the bloody obvious boringness of the common room and settled onto one of the couches.
Heels still on, Lily sat down on the couch and curled up on it, getting comfortable. She remembered that Chuck had asked her, earlier today, if she could wait for him when she got back in the common room. He hadn’t been able to go, but he needed to talk to her. She didn’t know about what, but she hoped it was something good. She really did want to go change out of the expensive dress and heels. Sure, she could take off her shoes, but that would ruin the image of the Queen B. It was one good outfit to the next to the next, nothing dismantled or changed or wronged. That was just how it was, and she knew that that was how it always would be. She was a perfectionist, always in control, and everything around her had to be exactly the same. She adjusted her headband and pushed her curls off of her shoulder so that they lay behind her back. She leaned back into the chair a little deeper and sighed. The clock had long struck twelve, and it was now the day of her birthday. How long would he make her wait?

Lucian had spent all night at the Gala, he watched younger miss Lily Potter from afar, since her parents were there after all, he didn't feel like he should impose. Yes, he felt the need to tell them they were together when the time was right, he after all was a pureblood, and they couldn't be trusted. Lucian loved Lily because she was exactly like him, but more female wise. He needed to thank his ex for that, he made a mental note to thank Kara later, long after she had her children, because he was sure that she would have them soon and he didn't want to be around to hear er bitch all the time.
He apparated back to hogwarts and watched as she walked straight passed him, of course he was some what hiding, she was simply stunning in that yellow dress of hers, and the matching headband, which he always adored. He couldn't be seen, eventhough he was in one of his many suits, tuxes... whatever you wanted to call them. They were all expencive, and he had to fix up everything for Lily's birthday present. Oh he honestly couldn't decide so he bought her all of it, and framed a few pictures of them together. More than anything though, he wanted her, her body inside his. They were meant to be together.
He finally made it into the common room and brought up everything, setting it down beside her. He slowly then crawled to reach her from the other end of the couch and kissed her. "happy birthday my love" he sid before kissing her again. He got off her and sat down next to her and waited for her to speak. ze gifts are here!

your love's a drug... Lily had not been waiting for more than a few minutes, but to her, it felt like it had been forever. She was always excited on her birthday, always waiting for the wishes for a happy new year and the false smiles, hugs, and kisses. She looked forward to it every year, even though most people wouldn’t want a birthday like that. She was just different like that. She was sure that Chuck was like that, too, as they were basically the opposite-gender form of each other. It was amazing how in-sync the two of them were, and even though most people didn’t know that they were really that close, that part of their relationship wasn’t a lie. She had even said those three words, those eight letters that had basically meant that she had given her heart to him. He had never said them, but she knew he meant it, even if the words hadn’t ever left his mouth.
And then all of a sudden, she was being kissed, and getting wished her first happy birthday of the night. She was excited now, and knew that this had been the reason why he had called her here. She was glad she had been right. When he had called her his love, she felt special. She knew that she was probably the only one that he had ever called that, and that made her go all tingly. She knew that it was so immature, but she knew that this was how all girlfriends felt with their boyfriends around, hearing stories from her minions about their own relationship experience. Not that she paid much attention, anyways. “I knew you hadn’t forgotten.” She whispered with a smile on her face. He was the only one that really knew what her smile looked like. Well, him, Alex, Kara, and Scorpius. The only people that she held close. Well, for some of them, used to hold close. She pushed those thoughts from her head. Chuck was here now, and that was all that mattered.
She felt him stand up, and looked to her side. She saw a few boxes, about three, sitting on the long chair next to her. She smiled up at him and stood, not even thinking about her heels bothering her. They didn’t even register now. She felt the excitement like a small child would, but that didn’t matter. Not only had her boyfriend remembered her birthday, but he had gotten her a few presents, too! She thought herself lucky to have him as she opened the first box. Inside she saw a beautiful green dress, with a matching headband and jewelry. She picked up the headband, and the bracelet, twirling it around in her hand. She kept the dress in the box, though, thinking that she would be able to take them to her room and place them properly in her closet, which she had created into the stone wall, making it so that she had her own space that no one but her old best friend, Kara, and her knew about. She went to the next box, opening it up, and seeing a beautiful black and white dress, one that she gasped at. It was perfectly in her style. She saw the pearl necklace as well, and couldn’t help but think of Chuck’s good taste. She had one more box left, and opened it as well, seeing another black and white dress. She loved them all. With the matching shoes, jewelry, and headbands, Lily was ecstatic. She had also seen the pictures that he had framed of them, and her heart just melted.
She turned around and kissed him, her eyes lit up in happiness. “Have I ever told you that you were the best boyfriend ever?” She asked, laughing slightly. This had to be the best birthday she had ever had. With her old boyfriend, she had always made sure that he knew what to get her, setting a few pieces of jewelry on hold at one of her favorite stores in Hogsmeade; an upper-scale jewelry place that she went to often. With Chuck, she didn’t have to give hints, or do anything. She didn’t have to say a word. He already knew what to do. She kissed him once again, but broke away when she heard a cough from a little bit behind her, and turned around to see Elaina, one of her minions, standing behind the sofa where her present boxes lay. “Umm, Lily, can I talk to you for a moment, please? It’s really important.” Lily almost growled, but held it back. She put a fake smile on her face and nodded, turning back to the man that she was against. “I’m sorry, this’ll only take a second.” She whispered, and went over to the minion, taking her arm and pulling her a little bit a-ways from Chuck. “What do you want?! And this had better be good, Elaina!” Lily said, her smile wiped from her face. She was angry with the girl that stood before her, in her year, in her house, yet still a minion of the powerful Lily Potter.
“Umm, well, I heard from some people that there are pictures going around of Lucian Avery and Cassiopeia, you know, the disowned Black? Some people say that they saw them walking into the Shrieking Shack together, and then him leaving. Apparently, she left a few minutes after he did, her clothes all disheveled and she was totally, totally drunk!” The girl in front of her said it almost all in one breath. She took a deep breath, and continued, not noticing the growing frown on Lily’s face. “Some people swear that they saw them having sex, you know, when they were in the Shrieking Shack? And I said that there was no way that he would cheat on you, but Lily, I saw the evidence myself. Lucian slept with Cassiopeia McGonagall.” Elaina said. Lily just looked at her. “Get out of my sight!” Lily said angrily, and Elaina just looked at her shocked. She had every right to, though. Lily wasn’t one to ever lose control, and it was so seldom that none of her minions had ever seen it happen. She was always in control, always aware, always…Queen B. Lily watched as Elaina scurried off to her dorm with a quickly muttered goodbye, and took a second to take a deep breath. She didn’t even bother putting on the smile when she went back to Chuck, tears already gathering in her eyes.
“Don’t you have anything to tell me? Don’t you want to tell me that it isn’t true?” Lily asked angrily, trying to hide the tears that were rapidly filling her eyes, letting her hands fall from the bottom of her dress, letting the material float, instead of being bunched up so that it had been easier for her to walk. “One of my minions just told me something, and I want to know if you’ll tell me first, before I have to say anything. So? Do you have anything to say?” She asked, blinking twice. She just stared at him, trying to keep from telling him how upset she was, and how she wanted him to tell her that it wasn’t true, and that he hadn’t slept with a bloody disowned Gryffindor, of all people. She stared into his eye, and waited. Waiting for him to admit that it was all a lie, and that Elaina had only been messing with her, because she was jealous, because she was upset with the way that she was treated, or some other stupid girly reason that would force her to act so petty. But in the bottom of her stomach, she had a feeling that Elaina wasn’t just being a prissy little bitch, and that there really was a reason for her to be so angry and upset.

Lucian knew it was only a matter of time before it all got out. He had been payed by the Blacks to try and produce an heir for their family. Well Luc came from a well known family and he was very wealthy, so he didn't really need the money. What he didn't want public was what he and Kara had done a few years back, and the Black family knew about it. although Kara didn't know, she only thought she killed a man, who was supposedly her Ex. What she didn't know wouldn't haunt her like it did him, and lord knows he wasn't going to tell her. About any of it, Lucian had loved Kara at one point, but that damn Scorpius changed her to become a good person. He was going to pay, his whole family would pay for taking her from him.
It had been when they had dated, Kara had only been sixteen at the time, and he had been the same age. they had had sex nearly every night, sneaking out of the common room and doing it all around the castle, always finding a new place each time. Kara had gotten pregnant, and he knew when her mood got out of control. Lucian had asked the Malfoy's and the Black's to help cover this mess up, he didn't know that he was about to give away his soul to them. Kara had been put into a coma for about three months on a private island where she could be looked after. They had put drugs into her system making her think she had a miscarriage and took out the child. Lucian couldn't have a kid at the time, he had to finish school. She needed to finish school, so that they could be together, they also had planted in the memories that she had been dating someone else and he hurt her like her father had so she killed him.
Although he loved Lily, he still missed Kara'sraw power. Lily was tame and so niave when it came to ruling a kingdom, it was pathetic, she would never become Kara, of ever fill her shoes. He came out of his thoughts and smiled at Lily, "of course, i wanted it to be a surprise" And in that moment it was pure bliss, nothing could ruin the moment. "no, never" he smirked and kissed her gently on the lips. The moment was done and over with the minute one of her minions interrupted them. He knew it was down hill from here. He watched as she got up and went over to speek with the younger year. Luc asked himself why he was here dating a half blood, and a younger year? She was a Potter, thats why. That shouldn't mean much to him though, really he'd love a pureblood family, but he cared for Lily, so he needed to stay away from her before he broke her heart again... she knew that she would be pissed at him and never want to talk to him ever again. Again with the Naiveness.
Lily had come back and she was pissed. He looked into her eyes, his face expressionless "i'm afraid it is true, and she was pureblooded... i know it's hard for you to believe, but i am a bad person. You shouldn't have fallen for me, fallen into my trap... to catch the great Lily Potter was the best game i ever played, and to think, you thought i really loved you" he smirked before walking towards the dorms.

your love's a drug... Lily listened to his words and felt her stomach drop. She couldn’t hold back the tears. It had all been a game. They had both played their fair share of games, but she hadn’t thought that their relationship had been one. She felt like she was falling apart. Why had he done this? She didn’t understand. He wasn’t bad. She had seen parts of him that other people hadn’t. She had seen how sweet, how kind he could really be. Not that he’d ever show that side of him to others; it was too big a risk. But Lily had been vulnerable around him. She loved him. She could feel the love for him right there, pulsing in her breaking heart. It felt like she was getting stabbed over and over in the same exact spot. It hurt.
“To catch the great Lily Potter? Was that all I was? A catch?” Her voice broke off at the end. She felt absolutely sick. So it had all been fake. Nothing between she and Lucian had been real. Well, on his end. She couldn’t make it seem like there had been nothing on her part. He knew that she loved her. And she had a feeling that he loved her, too. But maybe he was just that good of an actor. Obviously, she didn’t know him as well as she had thought, or she would’ve expected this. She remembered Kara saying something about this, about him being someone to stay away from while Queen, and how she should just avoid the Avery family over all. She felt like she had been cheated out of her happiness. She had been happy.
She had loved him. They had schemed together. He had been sort-of like a King, her Queen B. It had been perfect. A perfect lie. The presents, the kisses, the whole thing…just a sham. And she felt used. But she didn’t say anything, and she didn’t let anything but the hurt read in her eyes. She couldn’t stop that part. She stared into his eyes, and knew that he could read the hurt in her eyes. “Chuck Avery…I hate you. And I never want to talk to you again. I’m Lily Potter, and you’re Lucian Avery…and that matters to you.” The tears were stinging at her eyes as they fell. She wiped at her eyes as he left, and she felt as if she was broken. She picked up her hands, and before she had realized what she was doing, she smacked him straight across the face, her right hand making a resounding sound, and leaving his cheek slightly red. And when he went to walk away, she sat back down on the couch and sobbed her heart out, not even caring that he was still in the room. It didn’t matter. He knew he had won, and that was it. She had thought that he had really loved her…but she guessed…she guessed she was wrong.

Lucian smiled, "thats exactly right love" he said and then she slapped him, it stung for a moment and he turned to walk off to his bed, but then turned back around and walked over to the couch pinning Lily down, his hands bound her wrists. He forced a kiss on her, but before he knew it, he was on the floor. Someone had pulled him off of her.
He should have walked off to his bed, which had been calling his name, but he didn't. He was now frusterated. After being thrown off by Kara, he headed for bed. He was hurting so much inside, but he didn't let it show. He was an Avery, emotions meant nothing, why he let himself get distracted all over again, he had no idea. The whole Kara thing could have happened again and he was sure the Potters wouldn't let Lily go missing for awhile, even though the Black's would love to get their hands on a Potter.
Kara had been with the headmistress, asking her for the rest of the school term off, not really minding if she repeated the last half, at least she would be with Scorp. Sometimes she wished that she wasn't pregnant. it would make life a whole lot simpler. When did Kara ever quit though, she always seemed to push through until she couldn't take it any longer. What would she tell Scorp when the time came to let him know that she had a medical condition? He would flip out. She pondered that as she walked back to the common room, telling Draco and Minerva that she was fine now, she must have forgotten to take her pills. Which she needed to start again ot she would be in horrible trouble with the hospital and Scorp.
Walking into the Common room she heard Lily yelling.... at Luc? 'why would she be....' Oh no, Kara tried to make her way there as fast as she possibly could, but she was a little late as she saw Luc ontop of her, she wasn't sure if Lily was trying to break free or not. She threw Luc off of Lily and through the glass table behind them. Kara saw Lily in tears afterwards. " LUCIAN CHARLES AVERY, GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE NOW!" she pointed and held her wand at his throat. As soon as he left she turned to lily. Lily? whats wrong sweetie?" she was worried about Lily, even though their friendship was going through a rough patch, well she still cared about the girl, especially when she was with or around Lucian. He crushed people, it's just what he did with girls, although Kara broke his... she figured this would be all her doing, and thats why he acted like he did. Because she broke his heart. Kara waited for a response from Lily.

Lily felt the kiss, and didn’t try to fight back. She just stayed still. She didn’t have it in her to push him off. The tears were still flowing fully, and she didn’t do anything to stop them. She felt as Kara came and pulled Lucian off of her, and sent him flying backwards. She had heard when he had left, more than seen it. Her head was spinning, but even though her eyes were closed, the tears still seeped out. She couldn’t seem to stop them. She was angry, but not with him. With herself. Why had she let herself love him? She should’ve known that it would’ve ended in heartbreak. She should’ve known that it wouldn’t have been good. She felt stupid, and hurt. Like a small child.
And yet she still loved him. She knew it. She felt it. She felt the love that she had for him sitting there, closing up her throat and pressing the tears from her eyes, causing her all of this pain. If she didn’t love him, this wouldn’t be a problem. She’d be a happy Queen B., maybe still good friends with Kara, and only Merlin knew what. She felt sick to her stomach. She wanted to go home, and stay in her room, maybe even cry herself to sleep. She didn’t know, but she wanted to be away from here. She had seen Kara pull her wand, and now, it seemed, she was putting it back away. Lily didn’t care, though. Lily was too upset to notice. When Kara asked her the question, L couldn’t even find it in her to fight.
“He said it was just a game. I was just his greatest conquest. He didn’t love me. He didn’t even like me. All he did was appease me. And I thought he loved me. I slept with him!” She said, her tears starting to slow. She still felt miserable and angry, though. She wished the whole thing had never happened. Ignorance is bliss, they said. Now she knew why. She wished Elaina had never told her anything. Why her? Why did she have to have a bloody minion like Elaina? Why couldn’t she have just let Lily stay happy and unknowingly defend her oh-so-guilty boyfriend? Lily would’ve done it without complaint. She loved him with everything she had. And now? She had nothing. She felt empty. She wanted to go hide somewhere. But she didn’t. She wanted to see what Kara had to say. And so now, Lily waited, wondering what Kara’s response would be.

Kara just held Lily tightly and rubbed her back, letting her cry. She knew that Luc was a horrible person, and she had tried to warn Lily on many occasions but she hadn't listened. Now she is where Kara had been minus all the tears. She had known that Luc had loved her, and she had been sorry he left, but it was her that had made him leave. After all, no one is perfect and he had cheated on her.
Also, there was something fishy going on around here, Kara knew the look on his face and well, it was one for revenge, but he actually also looked a bit sad, He wouldn't break Lily's heart just for no reason. There was some deep dark secret that he wanted to stay burried. "damn him!" she muttered under her breath. At least the arse did one thing right and kind of actually brought together herself and Lily.
Oh gosh, Kara could remember all the trouble they used to cause together, they always had such a good time. Although, Kara had been with Luc and Lily with Scorp. It was rather funny how they ended up trading at the end. Even if Lily resited her comfort, she wasn't going to let go. She knew that Lily needed her deep down and she was going to be there for her.
Kara looked up at Lily, after she spoke, "Listen to me, You are Lily Potter, you don't need him to survive, he's an arse for letting you go and i'll let you know one thing, he does still love you. He's scared of something, something that he and the Black's know and he really doesn't want it to get out, so he'll do anything for them... blackmail is a wonderful thing that the Black and Malfoy Families are infamous for." she wiped the young girls tears with her thumbs. Kara couldn't remember who had told her, even if it had been from Cass herself. She had been so out of it and all this trouble and drama had been caused after Lily had taken the throne. She bet her father didn't really like it, nor even approve of it. It was a good thing he wasn't here all the time.
"you...what? oh my Naive Little Lily... why did... why would you do such a thing, don't you know you should wait until well your at least out of school? Hell, i'm living proof." Obviously she meant to her pregnancy. Honestly Kara didn't know what Luc meant to do with her, maybe she had just been another notch on his bed post, but Kara wasn't going to let him get away with it this time, she was going to hurt him. Even if it meant bringing her husband and brother into it.

Lily didn’t understand why Kara was being so nice to her. She had been stupid. She had messed up. Kara must’ve known Lucian better than she did…maybe that was why she was being nicer. But Lily doubted that what Lucian had said was true. She had always trusted him, but now…his words didn’t make sense. She knew that Kara had seen what had happened, but she just couldn’t comprehend that everything between them was fake. It seemed impossible to believe. And that was where her mind kept going. She couldn’t get away from it. Her tears had finally stopped, and she was just left with slight hiccups.
“How does he still love me? He would’ve never done that to me if he really loved me! If he really loved me, he would’ve taken me over whatever they had on him! It just proves how much I really meant to him. Nothing.” She just didn’t know what to believe anymore. She wanted to believe that there was still some semblance of something between the two of them, and she wanted to believe that Kara was right, but she couldn’t believe that completely. Kara had called her naïve, and she was starting to realize that that was right. Because she was a Potter, she had been sheltered, and now, she didn’t exactly know what to look out for. And now, she was paying for it.
“Because I loved him! I didn’t know that I was just another fuck to him.” She said crassly. She put her face in her hands and took a deep breath. This whole situation was awful. She didn’t know how she was able to stand it. It wasn’t even that they had already said that they had loved each other. She thought that it had been a mutual feeling. Obviously, she had been way off. She wanted to go to her room and sleep. Who she really wanted right now, weirdly, was Kara, because it was just an old comfort, but their relationship wasn’t the same. Just because Kara was comforting her now, Lily was sure that this former Queen wouldn’t mind stabbing her in the back the day after. She really didn’t know what to expect.
Lily stood up. “I’m going to bed. K…I…thank you.” And with that, Lily turned away and walked to the fifth years’ girls dorms. Even though she was grateful to Kara, she wouldn’t ever mention this night again. She would never think about it, not only because it hurt too deeply, but because she didn’t want to think about Lucian anymore. Even if she couldn’t help it, she would try to prevent it. She had been used, that was it. He didn’t love her, the feeling would never be given back, and she should just forget that they had ever happened. Lily sighed. If only it was really that easy.
