Cass slipped an arm under his head and craddled it. "No, I'll go with you. I'd be miserable without you. But don't even think about that Benji because you aren't going to go to Azkaban. This was self defense, nothing more than that." She leaned her head down and kissed him on the forehead. "We'll have a whole lifetime to do that, and in a few month you'll have a baby to hold. You never lost faith when I was the one lying here without a heartbeat, now isn't the time to start."

Benji sighed and muttered, "i would be miserable without you too, but i am worried about it still. " He then shook his head and said, "i meant that i wish that i could get out of this bed and hug you myself. but they wanted me to stay put until the hole in the bone seals up again. and then there is the thing about the gashes and such " then he smiled and said, "but i like the idea of us having a whole lifetime for that. " he also liked the idea of being able to hug their baby when it is born.

Cass knew that if they came to take him to Azkaban she would have a major problem. She woudl be caught between wanting to defend him and go with him and protecting herself and the baby. Still it was hard to think about protecting that so far had only made her throw up a lot. "Well you cant' hug me but I can hug you, though that doesn't change anything about that lifetime." She climbed into the hospital bed on the side of him that was uninjured. She lied on her side in order to take up as little space as possible. She put her arms around him, careful not to hurt him.

Benji smiled softly and said, "you always know how to calm me down in the end." which was definitely true. no matter how scary life was... he realized that without her there, his life would have been more worse.Sure in theory if it wasn't for the fact that she was in his life, he wouldn't be facing this.... but for some reason he still found strength from being around her. He leaned his head on her. There was a look of peacefulness on his face. One that hadn't been there since the whole ordeal happened.

Cass could not help but feel extremely guilty. If she hadn't been around maybe this woube happpening now. She knew that the ministry was bound to be harder on him than most, and for something that he could not help. Still if she hadn't been there could things have turned out worse? He might not have fought, he might have tried to be peaceful and then Zach could have killed him if he wasn't willing to fight. That thought frightened her a lot. Cass kissed him on the temple. "You should get some rest. Sleep, I'll be here when you wake up, I promise I won't move an inch. I'll be right here."

Benji's eyes lit up for a moment and he asked in a curious voice, "promise?" He would fall asleep when he was good and ready to. but he wasn't ready to... yet.He yawned widely, making his face sting just a tad bit, but the sting of the cuts and scratches were going away due to the healing. His gray eyes were fighting to keep open for just a few moments longer. They were getting heavier by the second. He smiled and finally let his eyes close. he had snuggled up to her as best as he could without harming himself, which was not much. His words of "i love you" may have been muffled slightly by that. but oh well. He drifted off to sleep.

It was both easy and difficult for her to look at him. She felt responsible but oh, she loved him. She nodded at him with a smile. "I promise, I promise, I'll be right here." She kissed his forehead when he snuggled close to her. How many times would she get to hold him? It made her wonder. If he went to jail for a while? What if he went to jail and died in there? What if she had the baby while he was still in jail and she died? She doubted that she would but then again there was always a possibility. "I love you too." Then all she could do was hold him, hold him and pray a little.

Benji had fallen asleep and a few minutes later Jay came in quietly. He was about to back just as quietly as he came in. But he couldn't just walk away. he went over and said, "Hey... what happened?" In a curious tone to Cass. He had gotten the letter that she had left and he had notified the others. He sat on a stool that he conjured and sat close to the side of the bed where Cass was at. he figured that they ought to be quiet as to not to wake Benji up. "what happened with him? " he asked again, glancing at Benji's sleeping, scratched up form.

Cass gently petted Benji's hair as she laid there on her side next to him. Then she looked up when she heard the click of the door opening. She tried not to tense up as she looked to see who it was. She relaxed when she saw that it was Jay. She was so glad that someone else was here. When he spoke at first she moved a finger to her lips to tell him to keep his voice down. When he sat down she turned her head. "Well he just fell asleep. I don't even know, it's such a blur. We were in the common room and Zach came in. he made some comment and they started arguing a little. Then he threatened Benji, and then he threatened me. Benji told him to go away but he drew a knife and came at him. There was a fight, and he stabbed Benji but... Benji killed Zach. Zach stabbed him though, and the knife was silver. The tip broke off inside Benji so he had to come here, but they got it out. He'll be alright... Oh but Jay I'm terrified. What if they..." She didn't have to say it. What if they took Benji away. She was sure Jay knew what she was thinking.

Jay's calm demeanor was thrown out once she mentioned Zach. There was always something that rubbed Jay the wrong way about him.He listened to what she said about the events. There was a look of horror on his face. Just the thought that someone came that close to harming Benji and Cass was bad enough... But to stab Benji with a Silver knife.... that was sickening. His eyes widen with shock to hear that Benji killed Zach. Jay never thought he had it in him to kill anyone... at least in a human form. He always thought that if Benji was going to kill anyone at any time it would be in his wolf form.
Jay snarled before saying, "Zach is lucky that he is already dead... because what he did is sick and wrong... and would be getting his just desserts... if you know what i mean. " He was about to say that if Benji didn't kill him, that he would himself. he then tried to calm her down. "calm down... Cass.... If they take him away, i will do everything in my power to make sure he comes back home to you and your baby as soon as he can.I refuse to let him stay in that place... it corrupts even the nicest people in my opinion"

Cass saw the look on Jay's face at what she said and she could not blame him, it had been shocking for her too. She fully did not expect that Benji could have killed someone, then again he hadn't really. "Zach's neck was broken, it was an accident and it was self defense. It was in defense of me and the baby too." She looked back to Benji, smoothing some hair away from his face with a gentle hand. She turned her head back to Jamie then.
What he said made her want to cry. She nodded, she wished Zach was still alive. She wasn't sure if she wanted that so that Benji would not be is potential trouble or so that she could kill him. Still there was the terrible reality that they might take him away from her, in which case she wasn't sure how she'd get by. He was such a huge part of her life now. She dropped her eyes for a moment. "I'm scared, and I feel so guilty."

Jay sighed and muttered, "i figured as much that he wouldn't kill for any other reason other than to protect people. Hell you say that Zach died of a broken neck eh? hmm... if it wasn't for the fact that you seen it happen... and the fact that Benji is now in here recouping... you think there was any other way that this could be tied back to him? " Jay's mind was reeling.then he grinned and said, "i am actually proud of him... in the way that he protected you and the baby. It just shows how much he has changed recently. " He chuckled quietly. "I mean i am sure you have seen his change over the recent months. I think you taught him to love. "
"why do you feel that way? why Guilty? " asked Jay curiously. He noted how peaceful Benji looked laying with her. He thought it was too cute. In Jay's opinion, it was so sweet how much it seemed that Benji loved Cass.

Cass tightened her arms around Benji, enough to keep him nice and close but not enough to wake him, she wanted him to rest. She wanted him to be relaed and comfortable for as long as she could keep him that way. He had been through a lot by now though, still that changed very little. He needed rest and sleep could be that escape for him for now. She thought about what Jamie asked. "I don't know, the wounds maybe? I'm not sure, maybe their personal history?" She didn't know what to tell him. She closed her eyes for a moment. "He always could, he always knew how. I think someone just had to bring it out. He is such a wonderful person."
Cass bit her lip. "If I hadn't been there... well maybe he could have just walked away." She kissed Benji's nose this time.

Jay sighed gently and said, "hmm... Forensically he may be screwed... although one could say that if Benji really would want to kill him... he wouldn't have just broken his neck. I mean considering their history... he could have done a whole lot worse to Zach and vice versa." Jay smiled lightly and nodded. "Yeah, he's wonderful person alright. I have always considered myself lucky to be considered one of his close friends. "
Jay usually had a good sense of character. So he had to agree with Cass's assessment of Benji.But then he shook his head in disagreement. "no. He wouldn't walk away. He would have fought for what he believed was right. even if that meant his death. " He smirked at the fact that Benji's nose twitched when Cass kissed it.

Cass nodded, knowing that was true. Her face was filled with worry. "I heard a thud though, like Zach's head hit a table or something. It was terrible. Maybe that caused it?" She was looking for any explanation, any excuse. She was starting to recall things that she had not been able to remember before as her mind was restored by the anti-poison. She remembered parties and she remembered Zach Flint getting handsy with her. She also remembered Benji pulling her away from that.
"He's going to make a really great father, when he has the chance. I know he'll be busy, I understand that." Then cass sighed. "I know that he probably would not have walked away, but I'm allowed to hope, right?" She was solent for another moment. "He was brave too, he wouldn't be put under when they took the blade tip out of him. He was awake and I was right here with him. I do wonder if zach would have followed through on his threat."
